In 1824, when the new road was built, he was farming High Sprintgill, which was owned by Robert Hunter.
Thomas was living at High Sprintgill in 1841 with his wife, Isabella, and his sons Thomas (35) and Robert (20). In 1851, he was at Dovengill, with Isabella and Thomas, but he died between 1851 and 1861. In 1861, Isabella was at Dovengill, with her son, Thomas. She probably died in the second quarter of 1865.
1 THOMAS THEXTON (1804-1884?) was born in Sedbergh parish. He moved to Dovengill with his mother between 1841 and 1861. He was living at Low Sprintgill in 1871 with Agnes, his niece, and Joseph and George, his nephews. These four were still at Low Sprintgill in 1881. Thomas probably died at the end of 1884. His age was given as 84.
2 WILLIAM THEXTON (1805?-1863) married Barbara Harrison on 24 May 1834 at Kirkby Stephen. Barbara was seven years younger than him.
In 1841 and 1851, they were at Murthwaite. He lived at High Sprintgill. He seems to have died between 1861 and 1871, probably in the first quarter of 1863. Barbara survived him, dying at the end of 1874. Barbara's and his children were:
2.1 ISABELLA THEXTON (1834-??), baptized at Soulby on 21 September 1834.
2.2 ELIZABETH THEXTON (1836-1891?), baptized at Soulby on 8 July 1836. She probably died unmarried in 1891.
2.3 AGNES THEXTON (1838-1909), born in the second quarter of 1838. She was living with her uncle, Thomas, at Low Sprintgill in 1871. She died, aged 71, in 1909.
2.4 THOMAS THEXTON (1840-1887) was born at Murthwaite in the summer of 1840. in 1861 he was working for Thomas Fothergill at Adamthwaite. He later lived at High Sprintgill. He married Elizabeth Atkinson from Orton in 1876. Thomas died on 28 October 1887. He owned and lived at High Sprintgill.
Elizabeth Thexton lived on at High Sprintgill, and was there in 1901. She died in 1920.
2.4.1 ISABELLA THEXTON (1877-1909), born in the third quarter of 1877. She died at the age of 31.
2.4.2 WILLIAM THEXTON (1878-1957), probably born in the last quarter of 1878. He died on 3 December 1957.
2.4.3 GEORGE A THEXTON (1880-??), five months old at the date of the 1881 census.
2.4.4 BARBARA THEXTON (1882?-1957). She was a dressmaker in 1901.

2.5 WILLIAM THEXTON (1842-1916). He married Mary Ann Nelson in the second quarter of 1871. She was from Crook. The family were at Murthwaite in 1881. Kelly's Directory for 1897 lists a Mr. William Thexton at Low Sprintgill, and he and Mary were there in 1901 with the two youngest children. Their son, Henry, was still living with them in 1911. William died on 22 May 1916. His widow, Mary Ann Thexton, survived him, dying in 1919. They had issue, including:
2.5.1 BARBARA THEXTON (1872-??), born in the first quarter of 1872. She married William Dixon Shaw and lived with him at Cold Keld.
2.5.2 WILLIAM THEXTON (1875-??), born on 19 August 1875 in Ravenstonedale. In 1897 he was living in Wavertree, Liverpool and working as a milkhouse servant. In 1901 and 1911 he was living in 19 Glynn Street Wavertree, Liverpool, at first as a carter, but after 1911 as a corporation employee.
He married Eleanor Richardson on 23 December 1897 in Ravenstonedale. She had been born in Long Marton. The couple had two children:
2.5.2.1 ALICE THEXTON (1898-1971), born on 27 May 1898 at Wavertree, Liverpool. She married Robert Percival Titherington on 21 August 1921 at St John the Divine, Fairfield, Liverpool. She died on 25 June 1971 at Wiend Cottage, Church Brough, Westmorland.
Alice and Robert had two children:
2.5.2.1.1 DOROTHY HILDA TITHERINGTON (1923-1923), born on 11 January 1923. She died on 12 May 1923 and was buried on 15 May in Toxteth Park Cemetery, Liverpool.
2.5.2.2 MARY ANN THEXTON (1902-??), baptized on 30 July 1902 in St Bridget's, Wavertree, Liverpool.
2.5.3 HENRY THEXTON (1878-19??), born in the third quarter of 1878.
2.5.4 ELEANOR THEXTON (1886-??), born in the second quarter of 1886.
2.6 MARY THEXTON (1845-??). She married George Fawcett in the first quarter of 1866. They moved to Tarn between 1871 and 1881.
2.7 GEORGE THEXTON (1847-??). He was living with his uncle, Thomas, at Low Sprintgill in 1871 and 1881.
2.8 ROBERT THEXTON (1853-??).
2.9 ALICE THEXTON (1858-??), born in Nateby in the third quarter of 1858.
2.10 JOSEPH THEXTON (1861-??), born in the third quarter of 1861 in Brough. He was living with his uncle, Thomas, at Low Sprintgill in 1871.
